Call to Annual Meeting and Parish Updates

Dear Members and Friends of Saint John’s,

As we continue to move through the Covid pandemic, it seems as if we were getting better for a while, but alas, now we are, at most, treading water. Even so, the work of the Good News continues! I invite to you any or all of the following:

The Annual Meeting for 2021 will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 9 AM, so that attendees of both services can attend. The main agenda item will be the election of a Warden, up to three Vestry members, and up to three Delegates to Diocesan Convention. An election slate will be announced in due course. At this point the meeting will be in-person but masks will be required.

I ask you to please pray over if you feel called, or even just curious about, vestry or diocesan leadership. And then please speak to me or either of the current wardens by Sunday, September 5 if you’d like to learn more.

Our regular Weekday Mass will now be on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM, both in-person and online.

We hope, pray, and need our 2021 stewardship pledge campaign will be greatly fruitful. To help us learn more, we have reserved three slots at the 2021 Fall Stewardship Training. This is a 5-week course over Zoom to learn to provide teaching, focus, and adaptable resources to equip clergy and lay leaders to develop our year-round and annual stewardship campaigns and to plan, ask for, and receive major gifts. The first session is on Wednesday, September 8, with the remaining sessions on Sunday afternoons. More information can be found here. Please prayerfully consider attending this as part of your gifts of time to the ministry of our parish, and contact me if interested by Sunday, September 5.

Our worship is our principle reason for being - please join us for any or all our services! We continue to offer our services on Sundays at 8 AM and 10:30 AM, and now on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM, in-person and on Facebook or YouTube. We need 100 subscribers to get our own clear YouTube address – we have 63 now. Please help us get to 100 by subscribing today.

We are running a deficit budget this year, and so we ask you to contribute to the needs of the parish, either in person at Mass, or by mailing in a check, or by donating securely online here.

Please know you are all in my prayers, as I hope I and the parish are in yours. Do join me in praying daily for the ministry of Saint John’s:

Almighty and everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth, hear our prayers for this parish family. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Faithfully,

Fr. Bob
